Orcas

I was watching a Lindsay Nikole video on orcas. I always knew they were complex creatures, but this video gave more instances that support that fact. The portion of the video that made me reflect is the portion where Luna the orca was discussed. Wrongly gendered female, but Luna/Bruno was a lonely orca that was bullied by his pod. So this orca would try and find connection by being around humans. Often times playing with them or swimming alongside their boats. Although the humans enjoyed Luna's company, not all humans Luna will see will have good intentions. So they tried to get Luna to not seek out boats. They tried various ways such as leading him to waters where there wasn't any human and leading and ditching him. Ultimately, the attempts didn't work to sway him off this behavior and he ended up dying by swimming too close to a boat rotor. Lindsay then goes on to say the best thing we can do for orcas is not to get too close and this will protect them. Which made me think how this is sometimes true for human relationships, there are circumstances where the best thing for yourself and the other person is to have distance.
